Kanysh Imantayevich Satpayev was a prominent geologist, Doctor of Mineralogical Sciences, professor, and academician. He was the founder and first president of the Academy of Sciences of the Kazakh SSR, a member of the Academy of Sciences of the Kazakh SSR, and the founder of the school of metallogeny in the Soviet Union and Kazakhstan.
